LYBURN FERGUSON
Hi this is Lyburn Ferguson and welcome to the Five Elements and the Tao of Living.  This 5 day program is going to teach you
how to truly transform your life.  We're going to do this by focusing on the 5 Elements of Living.    The 5 elements of living are really
pretty simple things but by identifying them and consciously taking control of each life element we can create explosive change in our
lives.  I'm talking about the kind of change that redefines the very way that we classify our existence.  So before we get started let’s
talk about the Five Elements and how they work.  You see this program stems from my own pursuit of excellence in life and the
unique lense through which I view the world.  I’ve spent my life studying and practicing eastern philosophy and martial arts.  It is
through this study and practice that it dawned on me to form these principles into a system for improvement that anyone can utilize,
even if they do not practice martial arts.  This way, others can learn and experience the explosive life potential and growth that we are
all capable of.  The five elements are based on the practice of Hsing-I Chuan kung fu.  Hsing-I is a Chinese internal Martial Art.
What makes a martial art internal rather than external is the dual benefits it offers.  Internal martial arts provide a system of discipline
and self defense, but the movements and their practice also promote healing. It is an art, much like its sister arts of Tai Chi and Ba-
Kua, that is devoted to the importance of uniting the body and mind as one.  Besides providing a devastating system of self-defense
Hsing-I Chuan cleanses and tonifies the body through its practice.

Hsing-I’s root is formed by its five most basic forms, which are the five basic elements of Metal, Earth, Fire, Wood, and Water.
Through practice, one learns to balance the five element forms, and in turn achieves inner harmony and health with the five elements
of life inside all of us.  The basic five element forms of Hsing-I are fire, Earth, metal, water, and wood.  In a corresponding nature the
five basic elements of life are our spirituality, mentality, health, sleep, and work.  Each element is in Harmony in a creative and
destructive cycle.  In the creative cycle of Hsing-I, Metal creates water, water creates wood, wood creates fire, fire creates earth, and
earth creates metal.  In the destructive cycle of Hsing-I, Metal can destroy wood, water overcomes fire, wood overcomes earth, fire
destroys wood, and earth traps water.  Our spiritual element relates to the Hsing-I element of earth, our mentality element fire, our
health element is wood, our sleep element is water, and our work element is metal.  In the same way that the Hsing-I basic forms and
life elements can create and destroy each other, our various different life elements create and destroy each other.  As an example, if
we work too much (element metal) we create a need for sleep (water).  If you remember before, Metal creates water.  However, that
same overworking or Metal element can destory our Health which is the Wood element (think of a metal ax chopping wood).  Don’t
worry about remembering all of this because it can get very confusing.  The purpose of this background is so that you may
understand the basis for the information and how the Five Elements System really works.   Much like a large tree, if we are to survive
in this world we need a strong base, we need strong roots.  The five elements system has strong roots.  The information is based off
of a system that has been passed down from person to person for thousands of years and is still going strong.  In much the same way
that the practice of Hsing-I has helped bring my life into personal balance, it has transcended into this 5 element system.  I'm bringing
these ideas to you so that you too can achieve harmony and balance in your life.  So if you think that I'm rambling like a crazy man
it's only because I'm nuts.  But I've achieved a great deal in my life because I'm willing to be a little nuts, a little different.  If what
everybody else was doing was working you wouldn't be listening to this program searching for a new way.  That new way is the 5
element system, a new way steeped in thousands of years of tradition and in a thousand years search for life balance and harmony.
This system works universally, no matter who you are or what your background is.  You can take these principles, apply them to
your own life and build on them and grow with them.

This system is being presented to you in the hope that you take some value from it and apply it to your life.  Even if it just gets you to
think about things in a new way, it has achieved its purpose.  Ultimately, there is no one perfect way in this world.  It's about taking
ideas and principles and applying them to your life in a way that works for you.  But please give each principle a good shot, because if
you completely apply this program 100% to your life you will see dramatic and lasting change.  Use this program as your personal
resource for creating and finding change.

Change is hard, and most people in your life will not support you in change.
Look at this program as a means of support.  You can do whatever you want
with your life, it's up to you!
